Company History
In 1987, Tanya and Wayne Long founded Well Care & Nursing Services, Inc. a privately owned Medicaid licensed home care agency. In October of 2000, they purchased New Hanover Home Health, a Medicare certified agency, from New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Eventually, both organizations were renamed to better reflect their ownership and the services provided to the citizens throughout southeastern North Carolina. Well Care & Nursing Services, Inc. was renamed WellCare Home Care, and New Hanover Home Health was renamed WellCare Home Health. Both agencies are JCAHO certified.
WellCare has provided exceptional care to patients in their homes since the 1980s. Today, our team of professionals continues the legacy of delivering quality, cost-effective healthcare to homebound patients. Recovery times and patient outcomes have always been our primary indicators for measuring success, and customer service excellence remains our commitment; as a result, WellCare is a leading home care provider in southeastern North Carolina, in the past and the present.
