Karen Pettigrew, RN
Director of Clinical Operations, Home Care & Home Health
Karen Pettigrew is Director of Clinical Operations for WellCare Home Care & Home Health and was named to this position in September 2010. In this role, she is responsible for the oversight of all clinical lines of service, including providing leadership to the multi-discipline staff and driving strategic initiatives across the Company.
Prior to her current role, Ms. Pettigrew joined WellCare in 2006 as a member of the Education Team. In 2008 she became the Director Home Care where she led the teams of nursing aides, registered nurses, and administrative staff. Ms. Pettigrew has 30 years of experience in health care, the majority of them spent as a registered nurse caring for patients and families. She participated in the startup of a pediatric home health program where, through outstanding census growth, she was able to positively impact many young lives by providing healthcare in the home environment. As an American Heart Association BLS Instructor and DFS CNA Instructor, she contributes to the training and continuing education of WellCare employees.
Ms. Pettigrew earned an Associate of Science in Nursing from Rockingham Community College in Wentworth, NC. She is continuing her education in nursing from the University of Arkansas. Ms. Pettigrew serves on the North Carolina Association for Home and Hospice Care as a Medicaid Liaison and speaks regularly at local civic and religious organizations on the benefits and uses of WellCare services.
