On Course® Fall Prevention Program

Falls aren’t usually caused by just one issue, a combination of factors are playing a role. The majority of the time routine activities, combined with decreased mobility, increased frailty, depression and deconditioning put patients at high risk for falls. Studies show that nearly ½ of the elderly report a fear of falls and the injuries associated with falling. In 2000 alone, the cost of fatal fall injuries for people over 65 exceeded $19 billion. Most falls are preventable and WellCare On Course® is designed to reduce the fear of falling and increase activity levels of older adults.

IDENTIFYING RISK FACTORS

  • Blood pressure that drops significantly upon standing
