Susan Jackson joined Well Care Health as Chief People Officer in June 2018.

She leads all human capital initiatives for Well Care Health, including talent acquisition, culture, retention, staff training, and leadership development, along with compensation and benefit design. Susan drives Well Care’s culture and supports its professionals by providing an environment where they can thrive through an organizational design that maximizes the company’s scalability and growth plans. Her primary focus is to continually ensure employees remain connected to Well Care’s mission and guiding principles.

Susan has more than 25 years of executive leadership experience in health care, with extensive knowledge in driving strategic organizational, talent acquisition, and performance programs. Prior to joining Well Care Health, she served as the Chief Operating Officer for C3 HealthcareRX, a start-up company focused on improving patient outcomes through health and pharmacy services. Susan spent the bulk of her career, 22 years, at WakeMed Health and Hospitals in the Operational, Human Resource and Workforce Development arena. She served in multiple roles, including Director of Workforce Development and Human Resources, Vice President and Chief Learning Officer, and Executive Director of Network Development.

An active member in the Triangle community, Susan has been a workforce development volunteer for more than 20 years, and has served on multiple committees across North Carolina. She is currently a board member with NC Works Commission and the Capital Area Workforce Development, where she previously served as its Chair. She’s also a board member with the NC Community College Foundation.

Susan holds a Master of Arts in Health Education and Promotion from East Carolina University. In her spare time, she enjoys boating with her family, NC State athletic events, cooking and traveling.

Fun Facts:
My wife, three sons and I are “escape room” artists. This is our favorite family outing and there have been few escape rooms in which we can’t find our way out. I collect red wines and love to cook. We’re avid boaters and love college football games!
