Well Care Home Health Receives Five-Star Rating from CMS

April 3, 2015 - Well Care Home Health is a five-star rated home health agency according to a new rating system and report released by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Medicare-certified home health agencies recently received "provider preview reports" from CMS notifying of their rating scores, which are to be published on the Medicare website in July.

The star rating system is based on an agency's performance on nine clinically relevant quality indicators currently measured by CMS. These indicators include the following:

-Timely Initiation of Care -Education on patient Medications -Improvement in Ambulation
-Improvement in Bathing -Current Flu Immunization -Acute Care Hospitalization
-Improvement in Bed Transferring -Improvement in Pain Interfering with Activity -Improvement in Shortness of Breath

According to the CMS website, the agency is implementing the star rating system to provide consumers a succinct, user-friendly option for choosing quality home health providers. The star system will be an addition to Medicare.gov's Home Health Compare (HHC) page, which provides detailed information about quality of care provided by Medicare-certified home health agencies.

"We are certainly pleased with the rating results, but we aren't surprised by them," said Wanda Coley, chief operating officer of Well Care Home Health. Coley explained the agency constantly evaluates the quality of care provided to its patients. "We employ the most skilled clinicians and our goal is to exceed our patients' healthcare needs and create an exceptional customer experience."
